Covid Crisis Lab - Laboratory for Coronavirus Crisis Research
Associate Professor in Demography and Social Statistics at Bocconi University. She is PhD. researcher the Ecology & Epidemiology Group, Warwick University, UK. She is Research Degree Student at the Infectious Disease and Epidemiology Unit, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London, UK. (Awarded an MRC fellowship). She holds a degree (with distinction) in Economics at the Institute for Quantitative Methods, Bocconi University, Milan, Italy. Her research interests focus on the use of mathematical modeling and statistical analysis techniques to evaluate public health intervention programs. In particular, she has been working extensively on infectious disease dynamics and vaccination strategies both in high and low-income countries

Joint Purpose
The Lab was established in 2020 thank to the generous contribution of the Romeo ed Enrica Invernizzi Foundation. Its mission is to understand the spread of the COVID19 and analyze its numerous implications on the health of populations, health care, society, the economy at large and its financial and legal consequences. It draws faculty from all 8 Departments at Bocconi and is the most multi-disciplinary research initiative so far to face the crisis challenge. The main goal is to understand various aspects of the pandemic on the economy at large, the financial sector and firms, giving a unique overview on the possible outcomes to help in analyzing and designing efficient policies in relation to the COVID-19 crisis
Activities
- Investigate the effect of the crisis on derogation of ordinary rules of corporate governance
- Understand the spread of epidemics through the improvement of models characterizing the epidemic and the health behavior of individuals
- Identify the effect of firm ownership and other characteristics on the resilience of firms through crisis.
- Analyze the effect on the financial sector and how it can contribute to sustain hard-hit firms
- Study the effect of social distancing and its acceptance by the public, the effect of the crisis on pollution, the future of food safety and sustainability and the role of social capital and trust in periods of pandemics
- Disseminate the and initiatives and findings of the Lab through several channels, including academic publications, a dedicated website, workshops and media releases
