Joint Purpose
Antin Infrastructure Partners, a longtime supporter of Bocconi University, decided to establish the Antin IP Associate Professorship in Infrastructure Finance through a generous gift in 2017. This Chair is a testament to the exemplary research in the infrastructure sector of one of our professors, Professor Stefano Gatti. The Chair’s goal is to promote the culture of investments in public service and support the in-depth study of the topic by the academic community and students.
Core Activities
Research
Professor Gatti’s research focuses on infrastructure and in particular on the infrastructure gap, which generates a potentially huge demand for greenfield and brownfield infrastructure. This demand extends to all sectors involving such investments, including economic and social infrastructure. While financial markets have developed solutions to channel private capital into this alternative asset class, a number of macro-trends are reshaping the sector and the characteristics of the infrastructure universe. Looking ahead to 2030, it is clear that what we know today as infrastructure will undergo a radical transformation in the years to come.
The Antin IP Associate Professorship in Infrastructure Finance’s research investigates in particular the four forces that are transforming the sector (the digital revolution and big data, dematerialization, the shared economy, and the viral expansion of social media) and their impact on the "traditional" infrastructure subsectors of energy and electricity, transportation, social and PPP infrastructure and telecommunications.
Dissemination
The Antin IP Associate Professorship in Infrastructure Finance’s activities have been enriched over the years by the dissemination of Professor Gatti’s research results, thanks to his participation in seminars and conferences organized by prestigious academic and institutional entities. Each year the research results, jointly owned by Bocconi University and Antin IP, are disseminated during a high-profile conference where academics and professionals can meet to discuss the results and their implications for investors.
